Use Beautiful Ocean Beach with Parking Pass

South County and Quonnie Pond, provide a wide range of recreational opportunities from water activities to museums. Water fun is minutes away: with access to a private beach on the Atlantic Ocean at Weekapaug. While the white sands of the Misquamicut State Beach or the town of Charlestown's beaches are available, the private ocean beach at Weekapaug used by Shady Harbor residents is most appealing of all. Renters have use of a beach pass for this ocean beach at Weekapaug while at the house. You can take long walks down the shoreline without encountering large crowds, even in the height of the summer season. Only a short drive further brings you to historic Watch Hill, one of the most famous and historic New England beach communities with unique boutiques, arts and crafts shops, outstanding restaurants and the world renowned flying horse carousel. Golf, tennis, deep sea fishing and more are only minutes away. On the pond you will be able to boat or kayak and enjoy the beauty of the area from the water. Kayak rentals are available in the area. There are also bike rentals nearby. With the 15 MPH speed limit in the community, it is a safe place for everyone to ride bikes and walk.

Your vacation home has 3 bedrooms, 3 baths and central air if it ever gets too hot for comfort to help make the stay memorable. The house has been totally renovated with bright and cheery rooms. In Fall, Winter or Spring imagine a fire in the living room fireplace while gazing out the window at pond and nature views. Warm summer days bring a wondeful outdoor life-style.

Everyone's favorite part of the house is the screened porch

The large screened porch catches sea breezes on hot days. It has water views with comfortable seating and a large dining table for bug-free dining. The deck area also contains a large dining table, rocking chairs and the grill.

Large Bedrooms for the family

The two bedrooms on the main floor include one with a queen bed in the master along with a TV while the other room has twin beds, sitting area and TV. The other twin bedroom is on the ground floor. All the beds have great mattresses for a relaxing night's sleep. Each bedroom has it's own bathroom. The new top floor you see in the picture is not available for rent and locked up and not in use while being rented.

Lots of space in the public areas

The living and dining rooms are comfortably appointed with updated furniture, art work and entertainment center. The fully equipped kitchen has all the needed appliances and a large island with eat-in space. Downstairs, the family room has a wet bar/kitchenette, a pool table, queen sleeper sofa, a TV viewing area plus a full bath and laundry. There are books galore and
family games and puzzles available.

Spring and fall getaway weekends - great fall color

Nearby to Westerly and Connecticut with easy access

Neighboring Westerly is home to numerous eating establishments offering a full range of food choices. For the more adventurous, a short ride south brings you to Foxwoods and the Mohegan Sun Casinos or north to historic Newport.

Year round, this Shady Harbor rental AKA Lone Star Cottage, offers a life-style for either a family vacation or fall retreat, winter holiday or spring break. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, or merely a weekend retreat all make for a memorable stay. Gather a few friends together to stay at the house for a ladies weekend or a friendly fishing week. This is a no party house, however. It is in a small quiet family community.

Planes and trains are close by

There is frequent train service to New York City and Boston from Westerly Railroad Station for those quick business trips or visits when needed. The Providence Airport is only a short 45 minute trip up the highway and there are plenty of rental car agencies nearby. If you have
your own airplane, the Westerly Airport is less than 5 miles from the house. Of course, driving your own car gives you the most flexibility and there is ample parking at the house. You can bring your boat and launch it each day at the community's boat launch site just at the end of the street when you wish to go boating.
